DAD'S DAY OUT SET FOR JUNE 14
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick invites fathers to the 4th Annual Dad's Day Out on Saturday, June 14 from 1 - 5 p.m. on Belle Isle (Shed 8). The free event will include food, entertainment and fun activities for all ages.

11th Annual Career & Educational Fair (2008)

Stand Up For Kids - Street Fair (2008)
June 22, 2008 from Noon - 6p.m. at the Eastern Market in Detroit, MI. Entertainment: Hip Hop & Dancers. Also, there will be prizes, food, entertainment and information on youth services.
Ongoing Community Events/Activities
Detroit Workforce Development Department (DWDD) has developed a program for Detroit Fathers who are Unemployed or Low Income. For eligibility, fathers must live in the City of Detroit, be Low-income or Unemployed, Fathers must be able to verify their Parental Status (birth certificates, child support orders, school records, or other official documentation that list the individual as the father).

- Intensive Case Management; Employment & Traning Opportunities; Legal Assistance; Fatherhood Education & Support Groups; Career Development; Life Skills Training; Referrals for Substance Abuse Help; Father/Child Activity Sessions; On the Job Training; Post Employment Follow-Up; Workshops in Domestic Violence; Conflict Resolution & Anger Management. Spectrum Human Services Introduces: Proud Parents' which focuses on strengthening the couple's relationship through a shared exploration of parenting attitudes and skills. The weekly and home activities in the program journal helps each couple to develop attitudes and skills for successful family formation. During this 10-week curriculum, enrolled couples will meet weekly for 2 1/2 - hour sessions.
