Services Provided
CIAO has the mission of preparing youth for independence. To facilitate independence, CIAO will provide these services as necessary:
- Career Exploration, Career Development/Counseling
- GED Preperation – GED Testing
- Training – Training dollars are available for you to attend classes such as Nurse Assistant, Medical Billing, Computer Repair, and much more
- College Preparation
- Supportive Services:
Car repairs, Interview Clothing, Work Clothes, Drivers Training, College Books, Rent, State ID’s, Birth Certificates and Transportation
- Mentoring opportunities
- Career exploration services and career counseling
- Career Development – including paid training opportunities and assistance with entering a skilled trade.
- Paid internships (up to 3 months)
- College preparation – application assistance
- Housing assistance – assistance to help locate affordable housing
- Needs assessments
- Individual Service Strategies – barrier removal services
- Workshops and classes covering a multitude of subjects (finance management, personal hygiene, resumes, job search techniques, STD awareness, CPR training, self-defense, credit card awareness, affordable housing, computer software, Web Design, etc.)
- Referrals – CIAO is a “one-stop referral shop”. Many services are available to transitional foster youth. Many times they are unaware of what’s available to them.
- Supportive Services – car repairs, eye glasses, transportation, work clothes, interview clothes, personal hygiene products, driver’s training/licenses, birth certificates, State ID’s, rent, college books, gas reimbursement and much more.
- Youth Board Participation – Twice a month meetings to bring participants together and discuss current issues, plans for upcoming events, leadership development, feedback for CIAO staff, etc.
